Reddit competitive hearthstone11/7/2023 ![]() Arcane hunter's early game actually isn't that threatening in and of itself (all 1/1s and patriarchs). Edit: I forgot to mention that I've often found good success playing down 1 mana so as to not trigger their 3 drop secret. To this end, seascout operator is MVP, as it helps mitigate both of those cards. The main problem cards they have are star power and the spell that makes three 4/1s, as since we don't have access to pings, the only way to answer the worms is through gruesomely suboptimal trades. You want to maintain board with early mechs and then close out the game with earthens. Hunter (seemingly favored?): Arcane is definitely better for us than hound hunter, but both are winnable. If you start playing earthens, you've likely already lost. Look to stack a huge mech through magnetization or coin security automaton into a board flood. I didn't play against frost or unholy, but I'm sure we're unfavored against them.ĭruid (somewhat favored): You need to kill them before they drum circle, and so you need a strong mech opener. Against curse, either gameplan tends to work (though I'd prioritize order in the court in the mulligan if your mech opener isn't bonkers). Priest (heavily favored): I only played against control priest, but the game plan is pretty much the same as control warrior.ĭeath knight (heavily favored): Againt blood, same plan as warrior and priest. Try to develop a big board into their turn 8 so that they can't odyn. If you have an explosive enough mech opening (click clock -> noble minibot -> goldwing), you can keep that in the mulligan instead. Try to avoid playing the paladin 1 drop mech and goldwing, as we don't want them to clog our revive pools. The deathrattle on king is really valuable to ensure that they can't effectively board clear our tyr and his tears. Hard mulligan for order in the court and stoneheart king. Matchups: Warrior (heavily favored): nom nom nom delicious. I'm probably hovering around a 51% winrate, but most games are decided on turn 1 or 4 (bad mulligan/not enough momentum to pivot) so you can still climb relatively quickly. That said, I climbed from bronze-legend mostly using this deck and its variations and so I can say with certainty the deck's not great. I started playing this expansion the day before the buffs while on vacation, so all my games are on mobile (though I have a screen recording of lethal against the final boss if some proof is necessary). Drone deconstructor into amalgam is bad, even though it's a perfect curve). The most skill testing part of piloting this deck is recognizing when some mech openers just aren't good enough in aggressive MUs and you need to mulligan for something more greedy (click clocker into noble minibot is insane. The rule of thumb is that against control, you want earthens (turn 2/3 order in the court is MVP) and against everything else you want mechs. The key to this deck is recognizing which matchups require which win condition. Mech early game also has two sub-win-conditions i nthe for of stacking (magnetization) vs board flood (security automaton, seascout operator, 1 drop flood). How to play: This deck has two win conditions between overwhelming mech early game/overwhelming earthen late game. The idea behind this deck is to carry mechs' early game momentum into an earthen pivot. Mechs, on the other hand, have explosive opening potential, but fall apart when you lose the board. ![]() ![]() Why earthens+mechs? At a glance, the earthen package seems it would fit into a control shell, however, paladin's control tools are too underdeveloped to stabilize a board before you get your earthen ball rolling. You, like me, are well-educated enough to never queue into warlock. You, like me, get a sick contrarian thrill when you look at this decklist and see we (almost) don't share a single card in common with pure paladin (excluding their occasional order in the court). Why you should play this deck: You, like me, have challenged yourself to hit legend with every class through the use of suboptimal off-meta homebrews.
